  Main Street Station packed the house last night & were absolutely awesome. Amber & Susanne did a fantastic job working short handed. Yes, The Flying Dog is the Sarasota / Bradenton "live entertainment destination!"

  The Lauren Mitchel Band was absolutely awesome on Saturday night. They are the best band in Sarasota / Bradenton.

  The Flying Dog is in an old airplane hangar near the Sarasota/Bradenton airport. The sandwiches are supreme, the service is great and the owner loves Blues and Dogs. They hire local bands, there's never a cover and the music is always good. Even on jam night. ;-)
  
  And it's non-smoking.

  What a cool idea this place is. It's feels like it's completely in the middle of nowhere (without being more than 1/2 mile off US41), and has a fun vibe.
  
  I was there during one of the film festival parties, and they had karaoke which was fantastic. I don't think the place could have been any cleaner, and the service was fast and friendly...

  Never a bad meal. The dog is a locals favorite.Who wants to go to some boring oh-hum place? The food and the service is what makes the dog. And there is never a dull moment with Bruce running around!!!! trying ANYTHING off the menu and I dare you to not fall in love with it.

  We drove up to this place and were really confused. It looks odd from the outside and is in a strange part of town. We were expecting it to be a bunch of pilots and stewardesses getting hammered after work but we were mistaken.
  The food was really yummy and the bartender Amber was really friendly
  They have a coupon on http://restaurant.com which made this meal and six beers SUPER cheap. I will be back for sure

  Thank you so much for your comments. They will allow me a starting point to
  explore why this happened. I am sorry that this is your 3rd and final
  attempt. Ron and his band usually play the first 45-60 minutes on Wednesday
  nights. They start out approx. 7:00PM and play until 7:45 to 8:00 ish.
  Usually opening up the mic from 8:00 to 10:30 ish.
  Therefore,your comment about actually opening the mic up to other players is
  ....I don't know...... a little unfair. You were next in line to play.
  Perhaps the girl played a few extra songs. Not sure why she did. I am sure
  there was a good reason. We usually allow over 2.5 hours for open mic.......
  
  Our Wednesday and Thursday night open mic's are in my opinion very popular
  and enjoyed by many many musicians and fans of local music and talent.
  
  
  Maybe you might re-think your position. If not I wish you the best of luck
  and I am humbled by your kind words about the venue, food & wait staff.

  Tonight marks my 3rd and final attempt to play "open" mic night. I got to the flying dog at 7:30 and promptly signed up to play the drums. For the next 90 minutes not a single soul looked at the list of players. Then some girl was allowed to play 8 songs in a row. How about the rest of us? The ones waiting and spending money in your establishment. I was really excited when I first discovered this bar, the food is good, the wait staff is great and the bar has a nice relaxed vibe. If you are going to advertise an open mic you have to actually open the mic up to other players.
  
  I guess I'll have to find somewhere else to hang out and play music.
